Iced tea is the perfect drink to relax with on a summer day, and sweet tea is the popular choice for many. Though traditional sweet tea requires too much sweetener to imbibe in all the time on a Paleo diet, you can still enjoy naturally sweet peach green tea flavored with whole, frozen peaches.
Green tea has less caffeine than black tea or coffee, making it a better choice for enjoying later in the day or if you have a caffeine sensitivity. It’s high in antioxidants such as catechins, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral, and anti-cancer effects. Green tea may also improve heart health by reducing the risk of heart failure or ischemic stroke, and may reduce blood pressure.
Peaches, on the other hand, have the potential to improve digestive function with their fiber content, and offer a small dose of skin-healthy, immune-boosting vitamin C to boot. Their sweetness complements green tea’s earthy flavor in this frozen sweet tea.
TIPS:
- Some varieties of green tea may have flavors that are too strong or light for one’s palate. If you’re new to drinking this type of tea, look into which varieties may fit your tastes before buying.
- To make your Frozen Peach Green Tea a thicker consistency, freeze the tea into ice cubes and blend with frozen peach slices. You can also make a large batch of tea and save the extra ice cubes for more green tea-based drinks. Serve with lemon water for a mock green tea lemonade or with warm coconut milk and cinnamon to make a green tea latte.
